Waltham – Mrs. Esther N. (Geegan) Gallagher, of Waltham, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Epoch of Weston. She was 92.

Esther was born in Newton on March 27, 1919, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary (Connolly) Geegan, and was a 1937 graduate of Our Lady's High School in Newton. She had been a Waltham resident since 1946.

She was a longtime member of the Legion of Mary and the Ladies Sodality at Saint Mary's Church in Waltham and the North Waltham Seniors.

The wife of the late Waltham Deputy Police Chief John R. Gallagher she leaves her son, John R. Gallagher, Jr. of Burlington; her brother, Walter M. Geegan of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.

Esther was also a sister of the late Margaret M. Gleason, Mary P. Partridge and Msgr. John J. Geegan.

Family and friends will honor and remember Esther's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, January 19th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
