Waltham - Mrs. Dorothy G. (Ramsey) Arnold, of Waltham, died Monday, June 18, 2012 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 95.
Dorothy was born on May 22, 1917 in East Templeton, a daughter of the late George and Flora (Blanchard) Ramsey-Fontaine, and was a lifelong Waltham resident. She began working at the Waltham Watch Factory and later for the Raytheon Company. Dorothy also worked in housekeeping at The Fessenden School in Newton.
Dorothy also worked in the cafeteria for the Waltham Public School System including the Whittemore School and the Fitch School for many years, retiring in 1982. Among her interests she was talented with needle and thread; crotchet, cooking and above all, loved working in her yard and gardens. She was a member of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish.
Her husband, George L. Arnold, died January 4, 1989. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Timothy Arnold and great-grandchild, Casey Nicholson and her siblings, Pauline Rodman, Cecilia Stewart, Mabel Hudon, Loretta Thieme and Paul Ramsey.
She leaves her children, Lawrence H. Arnold and his wife, Laurie, of Milford, Lorraine A. Bradley and her husband, Daniel, of Waltham, James R. Arnold and his wife, Fara, of Longmont, Colorado and Frances M. Arnold of Waltham; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many friends and staff from the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Weston.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dorothy's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, June 22nd from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to The Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
